Network Radio Research Council Begins Second Decade
(New York, January 23, 2012) -- At its recent December 2011 meeting, the Network Radio Research Council (NRRC) announced the selection of Martha Luszcz, Vice President of Research at Cumulus Media Networks, as Chair. Len Klatt, Senior Vice President/Director of Research at Premiere Networks, will serve as Vice Chair.
The NRRC was created in 2001 to promote valid, reliable, and effective national radio audience measurement research. Its current member roster includes American Urban Radio Networks, Cumulus Media Networks, Crystal Media Networks, Dial Global Inc, Premiere Networks, and United Stations Radio Networks.
In 2011, the Council hosted multiple forums with Arbitron Inc. to discuss numerous ways to improve the measurement and reporting of national radio audiences, with a particular concentration on the emerging PPM technology. "Network Radio continues to be a strong platform for advertisers to reach desirable consumer demographics and the Network Radio Research Council has been instrumental in helping to communicate the medium’s value as a marketing vehicle," said Bruce Supovitz, Director of National Radio Services, Arbitron. "Advertisers are consistently pushing for greater accountability and proof of performance and radio networks are able to satisfy these demands with the audience insights gathered through RADAR, which measures the audience levels for the commercials that are cleared on their networks."
Other research companies, as well as industry organizations, have had an active relationship with the Network Radio Research Council. George Ivie, Executive Director/CEO of the Media Rating Council has been an invited observer to all NRRC meetings. "The NRRC has played a valuable role in focusing attention on national radio research and the quality of that research," said Mr. Ivie. "The NRRC’s mission in the area of research quality is aligned with the MRC and we appreciate our working relationship."
In 2012, the NRRC plans to continue its dialogues with such national radio research suppliers as Arbitron and MRI, as well as delve into the emerging measurements for new audio platforms, e.g., digital, streaming content, etc.
