Blair Garner Breaks News of ACM Award Nomination to Martina McBride
LOS ANGELES, January 27, 2012 -- After MidNite host Blair Garner welcomed three-time Academy of Country Music "Female Vocalist of the Year" award winner Martina McBride to his Nashville studio on Thursday, January 26. After introducing McBride to his audience as a 2012 ACM Award nominee, Garner discovered he was the first to share the news with the country star who had been busy that morning getting her kids ready for school.
GARNER: "Who gave you the news?"
MCBRIDE: "You just did."
GARNER: "No, are you serious?"
MCBRIDE: "Yeah, I hadn't heard yet."
GARNER: "And I told you. Wait, let me back up. Hold on. Hold on. I just told you this a moment ago, and I introduced you that way, and you politely nodded your head."
MCBRIDE: "Well, I know, because, I don't know. Well, you were talking..."
GARNER: (laughter) "But you're Martina McBride. You just got nominated for Female Vocalist."
MCBRIDE: "It's so exciting..."
